Criminalizing Survival- A Community Training
Saturday, February 16, 2019
10:00 AM EST - 4:00 PM EST
The Action Alliance Training Institute inspires learning, growth, and imagination through experiences that build empathy and create intention to shape a world where people, relationships and communities are liberated, healthy, equitable and just.
Using a curriculum from Survived & Punished, the Action Alliance is excited to host a free community workshop to help activists, advocates, organizers and community members to learn more about how domestic violence survivors are targeted, punished, and criminalized by law enforcement and judicial systems. In our conversation we will explore the connections between gender-based violence, prisons, and state violence.
After the workshop, participants and other community members will be invited to write letters to and make cards for LGBTQ+ folks who are currently incarcerated.
